The Girl In the Mirror

Wed, 07/10/2013 - 17:35 -- Ari

Every morning just after five, there she sits
My greatest enemy, my biggest fear, in the mirror she’s glaring
This is the one so shrill, voice so fearsome
She’s there you know, hiding, fearing, seeing
That girl in the mirror there she waits
It’s all I can do to keep from staring
That girl in the mirror ugly and fat so gruesome
Everything she hates reflected back as she’s wailing

Waiting to find what it means to leave the mirror
She hates herself and rightly so, for the truth she can’t deny
Who could ever love that ugly girl in the mirror
The girl knows it all, the way it is, the way it can never be, as she watches the days go by
The blank little world she lives in, it’s all that she has the life in the mirror
Blank shadows of passers by
And the hurt of knowing the truth that can’t be hidden not from the girl in the mirror

How do I know? How do I see?
Can I tell you a secret, one between just you and me?
That horrible ugly girl in the mirror, Is me
