Girl?

I'm told I'm not allowed to

Not allowed to wear that, to do this

But this is where it crosses the line

This is where we stand up and demand action.

"Girls can't wear suits, wear a dress instead"

"Black is not a girly color"

"Girls don't listen to this music"

"Why do you hate pink? You're a girl!"

It doesn't make sense.

What does being a girl have to do with me?

What does it have to do with what I like?

According to society, I'n not allowed to ask

Society is telling us lies

They are telling us that gender defines us

That you can't do certain things,

Just because you were born that way.

If I want to wear a suit instead of a dress, I will.

If I want to wear black instead of pink, I will.

Because who ever said I wanted to be a girl in the first place?

Not me, that's for sure.

And people may question me but I don't care

I want to be who I am on the inside

The one who isn't influenced by what gender I was born as

I just want to be myself.
