Poetry is an expression of feelings deep inside,
of hidden secrets, inspired dreams, or the wanderings of the mind.
It may be complicated or something that can't be said,
that shows the writer's feelings, something that must be read.
It may show the passions or sorrow of a grieving poet's woe,
or the smile and the gleaming that cannot help but show.
Through his pen and paper, a poet gives his heart
all summed up together in a perfect piece of art.
But the greatest part of poetry is that from an empty place
a writer's feelings can be heard through their poetic work of grace.
To inspire yet another writer to sit and take up their pen,
so that the gift of poetry gets passed along again.
