Gathered in remembrance ...

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

16 Always rejoice, 17 constantly pray, 18 in everything give thanks.

For this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus

We are …

Gathered here together … to remember one that left

Showing appreciation … that was somehow overdue

Even in sunny weather … dark clouds seem to overshadow

The lack of care we showed … when the man paid our dues

Talking about memories … making us feel so good

Glimpses shooting through the mind of things hard to forget

Forgiveness measures sounds of love … that are misunderstood

As the treasures for us to find … beyond the spider web

In its center flesh resides … the sharp teeth of emotion

Driven by the hunger … that spells out of revenge

In that place where darkness rides … in heart’s hidden commotion

Where me and mine thunder on … in a selfish dance

From far beyond creation … purity looks down

With the departed one … who just entered into Glory

Surmising in devotion … was he also a pawn

In most everything he had done … in his temporal story?

A soft voice and then a whisper … “You were just like that

Mixed up in your train of thought … deprived up to the core

Until you placed your trust … at my invitation

in the Author of it all … forever, ever more”

In Heaven we’re not judging … just praying for the lost

We pray for them to recognize … what the Lord has done

That is the way to praise Him … as in an everlasting song

For prayer is music to the ears … of God’s only Son
