A Futile Dream

I lay in bed at night watching, hoping
For a world
Where you and I could be
One

A world where we could be
Together in truth
Where our forms had been
Fitted perfectly together

I lay here in bed awake, with
The fiercest of wanting
You to be
Mine

A wanting that never ceases
To amaze even me
That I miss you everyday
Loving you so dearly

I wish for a lifetime of soft kisses
To ease any pain that may be
Leftover from long
Years of incompleteness

But I lay here in bed knowing
Ruefully that these dreams
Can never fruitify
Without a common ground

I will lay here alone and watch
The full moon shine
For you and many
Others who may never become whole
