They tell you to trust.
So you trust. You give handfuls by the bucketfuls and play with the people who take it as if you are kin. Then while you sleep they lurk and lie like shadows on your walls, like nightmares in your head, but when you wake the night is lifted, hiding the lies and silver sharp teeth behind friendly smiles they don't mean. But your trust is their mask and your blindness only to be used as the knife they stab you in the heart with.
