A Friend That Should Last Forever

The whimpers of my friend

Sad eyes peer from shaggy hair

As his life comes to an end

He loved me more truly

Than any human ever would

I loved him as well

More than I thought I could

God give him bones

A good slow squirrel to chase

I think to myself as tears run too fast

Racing down my face

My love for you will last forever

I pray that maybe someday

We can play again together
