Friend With the Heart of a Nomad

You have been rooted in this town for most of your life

And those roots have settled in so deep

That you feel restless with the knowledge

that you have seen so little of the world

have not met so many beautiful souls

That you have not experienced all that you have dreamed about

So you set off on your journey

To find both yourself and freedom

I watch you drift away

To be morphed by the wind and the river

That will lead you to the vastness of the ocean

And you will become an unrecongnizable figure

So mindful and powerful

That even the roots will not be able to bring you back.

Go forth

And find yourself among the unknown

Discover who you are and what you want to be

Change the fucking world

But don't forget me.
