Freedomless Singers

I pledge allegiance to the flag

Of the segregated states of America

And the life sentence of Cyntoia Brown

By the dawn's early light

Illuminating the rooms of underpaid workers

Our home sweet home

Snuffed with the flame of “freedom”

Land that I Love

If the government permits you

At the twilight’s last gleaming

Before the wall blocks the sky

Whose broad stripes and bright stars

Destroys bright futures

And the rockets red glare, bombs bursting in air,

Killing civilian families

Shooting unarmed black children

Gave proof through the night

Where women walk in fear

From the mountains, To the prairies,

To the brown water of flint Michigan.

To the oceans, white with foam,

To our country white with supremacy

Stand beside her

And Brock Turner’s 2 month rape sentence

And guide her

To a dark street where consent is forgotten

O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave

Over the blood splattered floor of sandy hill elementary

With liberty and justice for none

This poem is about:
My country
