Freedom

Forbidden! They say of our friendship so pure

Why must you befriend a boy with so much baggage?

His clothes are tattered but my hair is matted

But none of that matters

Because he freed me from my chains

The chains that kept me away from true bliss

He’s been my passage to laughter

The key to the door of my smiles

Why would I ever give up someone so beguiling?

He shares with me and I with him

He broke me free from the dungeon

And I kept him safe from the guards

The ones who tried to put me back

Back to a place where I couldn’t be myself

He is everything they weren’t

We protect each other because no one else ever has

He is my paradise

My oasis

My freedom
