Free as a Bird

They sat there motionless,
But the room still saw motion.
They felt as if I, their soul was being ripped from them like skin could be.
The feeling stopped
They had grabbed onto me.
And with the empty void still partially filled, they said
"I'm free as a bird, but is a bird ever free?"

This question caused a pause
Both in me and it seemed time also.
I'm no more
But I walked away longing for the answer of the question
"I'm free as a bird but is a bird ever free?"
Death stood before me as I had no purpose here
He took me and said "Birds can never be free as they are always stuck in this cage of death."
