Fragile Love

Because you love me,

you know when to be

patient,

gentle,

forgiving,

uplifting.

Because you love me,

you know when to take

one step back

and let me b r e a t h e.

When I thought he loved me,

I let him

     pu sh

me

to my furthest limits.

I let him  b re ak  me.

You are careful

with my defeated pieces

as you try your best

to paste them together

with glue.

I try to be

normal,

calm,

forgetful,

but sometimes

the memories

t e a r

at my roots,

digging with a rusted shovel,

dirty, persistent hands

ripping me

from the comfort

of my current relationship.

He's stuck in my head,

but you're stuck at my side,

listening,

holding,

watching,

hopeful.

Because you love me,

you choose to stay.

And because I love you,

I trust you with my delicate pieces,

even if sometimes,

your fingers get stuck together

when you're trying to use the glue

and I have to be careful with you

too.
