A Fractured Way of Life

Is it greed that drives us,

Or is it fear?

The hunger for more materials,

Or a need to fill a hole inside?

The fear of embarassment,

Or the fear of lonliness?

What destructive force

Brought us to an such an existence?

One filled with sorrow,

Dejection,

Despondency,

Discontent.

One change I would make

Is our outlook on life.

One that eliminates the endless desire

For unattainable ideas and materials.

One that breaches and destroys

The barriers we have built between ourselves.

For it is not our possessions that define us,

But our hearts,

And our ability to care for one another.

To live free of judgement,

Without ego,

And only with love.
