{ < Fortunate}

You have
all the riches.

However, a man off

the streets is quicker

to get with

the program and give.

He lives

a less fortunate life.

Yet he’d give up a bite

of his sandwich

just so his neighbor

isn’t famished.

I don’t understand it.

Someone break it down for me please.

Why will a man with nothing

give

more willingly

than a man with everything?

Maybe it is because

he understands the struggle.

He understands not eating

because he has to pay to get smuggled

into a country

where they spit on him

for being from another country.

It’s funny

because it’s still better than his country.

He may be less fortunate,

but his kids won’t have to dig in trash.

He’ll fast

if it means his kids will have

everything he didn’t

when he was growing up.

His sons won’t worry about throwing up

gang signs.

Walking on land mines

in their own neighborhood.

Just so their mother and sisters are eating good.

It’s understood.

He’s living good

from his eyes.

So it wouldn’t hurt him any

if he shared his fries.

He has plenty.

Don’t despise

the man that won’t give.

He doesn’t know strife.

Though it’s alive

in the alley behind his job.

A girl was beaten then robbed

& brutally raped.

He crosses police tape

& blames the young black male.

“It’s his own fault he got shot.”

Not the system that fail.

He doesn’t seem to care

because he doesn’t know pennies.

Change to him is a twenty.

His neighbor doesn’t even have a dime.

He thinks it’s their own crime.

“Up the ladder they didn’t climb.”

They didn’t even have a step-stool.

“They’re ignorant little fools.

Why don’t they look for work instead of sitting on the curb?”

Living in their cardboard,

sleeping with the birds.

Maybe if you helped them out

they’d have somewhere to start.

Why does the less fortunate

seem to have more heart?
