Forgotten Youth

Dear Youth,

You were snatched from me one day

And I have been searching for you ever since

I was given a glance at what you were

And without you, I lack competence.

I was a scared one

Wondering of demons, you see.

Thinking that this is what fate has decided;

This is what has to be.

You were what I dreamed of

But I had never met you yet,

Warm smiles and safe arms,

Not knowing you is my only regret.

However, we met a few years back

And I didn't know who you were

Therefore, I never knew you

And that's why I write this letter.

I met you and wanted more

Oh, how selfish I seem.

But you were the lullabies and teddy bears

That wandered in my dreams.

We will never meet again

But don't worry, I have reconciled.

I leave this letter with deep pain,

May you nourish a deserving child.

Sincerely,

The forgetful
