There on the cliff she stands
He puts up his hands,
With all she’s been through, there is no reason to stay
But without her he can’t go one more day.
She’s ready to give up her life
And he’s ready to fight for his wife.
No tears fall from her face
On his way to her, he quickens his pace
As the wind blows her hair,
He whispers the quietest prayer
Her heart so sad beats, its slow lullaby
He knows he won’t ever be able to say goodbye
Inches from the fall
He makes his final call
She can’t live this life anymore
He knows it’s this or never more.
Her chest slowly moves in and out
His heart screams out
So close to the edge, there she stands
Ever so slowly does he grab her hands.
All she wants is peace and rest
He pulls her close to his chest
She looks him in the eyes,
He knows it’s this, or say his goodbyes
She stands there not moving, as if she was on pause
Filled with terror he nods
She leans ever so slightly
He holds her more tightly
She goes because she is empty and hollow
His love for her makes him follow.

This is a beautiful poem that told an intimate story which is emphasized by the rhyme scheme. I loved the imagery too!
