I am a flower

And my friend the sun
Has gone away
Why, I do not know
Without my friend
I don't quite thrive
My roots shrivel
My leaves die
Desperately reaching toward the sky
Trying to see my friend one last time
My petals fall
And gather on the earth
My stem thins
And is no longer green
I draw in upon myself
To protect what little heat it left
A pathetic reminder
Of someone gone
Whom I wasn't enough for
Someone who left me
My petals are gone
My leaves are dead
My roots are dry
And my stem has curled
The sun has come back
To laugh
At my empty shell
To see the damage it's done
