Flames

I smell the smoke

I hear the screams

I feel the heat

Down in the street

I see the flames

They burn bright red

They cloud my eyes

And snuff my cries

The chaos is endless

The fury is rampant

My heart beats fast

The fire is so vast

I pray for an end

Safety at last

A stop of the pain

And finally…

There’s rain.

A rest from the inferno

My heart slows down a beat

Finally there’s no more aching

And my hands stop their shaking

How long will these tremors go on?

Hopefully they’ll soon be gone..
