The first, the last and me

Matthew 19:29-30

New English Translation

29 And whoever has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life. 30 But many who are first will be last, and the last first.

Thank you for trusting a product just like me

So often confusion rages in the canyons in my mind

Wandering toward nowhere where I need to be

To be lifted and replenished where truth seems defined

There are no winners or losers in this race called: ‘life”

Even without perseverance, all will get to the finish

Some will wear out and beaten and others full of strife

As the road winds down with no way to be replenished

There are no trophies waiting, there is no checkered flag

Just a simple hole in the ground for the dumping of the flesh

Somewhere I died on the road delivered from the drag

As I died in God’s hand reborn in the Savior’s best

He finished the race for me as He carried me on his back

He never complained much as I bellyached all the way

He let others go always ahead on a field already packed

I wanted to be first so bad but I did not want to pay
