First Contact

Sun, 07/14/2013 - 21:47 -- LJeakes

It's the risk that somehow becomes worth the taking,

The buildup, the payoff,

The culmination of feelings,

The crossraods of a relationship.

It is here where you and I collide

On the brink of everything

All at once.

And you smile.

You smile.

As if anything I said could possibly matter to you.

From here I am always lost.

Maybe it is your smile,

Or maybe your voice,

The things you say,

Whatever the obstruction, I am thrown off course.

It is this first night,

When I am sure you mean what you say,

This first glint of certainty.

Should I ever need more?
