Finally Over

Location

A standing ovation goes to the single mother raising her children.

Throw roses on the stage for the father that finally puts down the crack pipe.

Shed tears of joy for the first college student in a family.

Fireworks should paint the sky for success, because the days of living dormant are now over.

No more hungered nights or final notice bills overflowing the mailbox.

No more lying in the belly of the beast.

People ask, who am I to run away from my native place?

What makes you better than anybody else?

Who are you to just say “The hell with it” and just leave?

Who am I?

I can’t even answer that.

But I will find out through success.
