I’ll make you into a poem

Shape a simile from your smile

Lay a line for your laughter

Morph metaphors from your mind.

I’ll make myself the punctuation

The question mark in the curve of your ear

The ellipsis of freckles aligning from your wrist

To your elbow

The quotation marks framing your words.

I’ll make our love the rhythm

And our hate the irregular

Beat.

I’ll write words on your collarbone

Whisper rhymes into your hair

Etch allusions tenderly onto your eyelids.

I’ll stretch you for miles

Memorize your every line

And hold you

Forever in my heart.
