Fighting Fire with Fire
Location
Our eyes met, but our hearts could not bear it:
Ashamed to spill our secret desires
That would unleash sinful scorching fires,
Burning those that would’ve never permit
The crime of love which we dared to commit.
The spew of the serpent would hurt them less,
Only I’d suffer—the char on my dress
A reminder to remain celibate.
The flutter of her lashes cease my pain,
And her soft lips whisper sweet soothing sounds.
I am her princess and she is my Jane.
She holds my hand while I throw down my crown.
No prince bother having the dragon slain,
While with her, I won’t return to the ground.
