Fight for Calm

Wed, 10/19/2016 - 18:18 -- ACME

Music is my not so quiet 'quiet place'
it keeps my heart steady not racing
The beat times with my heart
and it's hard to keep us apart
The lyrics roll off my tongue
and I've climbed another rung
The gentle guitar strums
and the notes fill my lungs
I slowly calm the monster inside
with the paino flowing like the tides
The violin humming in the choir
slowly loosens my wires
Now I'm not so tight
but my monster's putting up a fight
The drums beat in my ears
and I'm trying not to hear
The booming calls me to rage
But I'm not stuck in this cage
The guitar laces back in
and I'm starting to win
The lead voice singing Aloha Ke Akua
brings me to peaceful awe
I have won, now I feel good.
