Feeling sorry

Amos 5:13

13 For this reason whoever is smart keeps quiet in such a time,

for it is an evil time. Feeling sorry

Where is the straight and narrow path in the swirling wind of time?

Where is the reason seen clearly as dust-storms are now the norm?

What is considered “righteousness” in this world of endless rhyme?

Is that what we pay for quietly in imagined innocence long forlorn?

“Forgiveness without repentance”… is like a castle built on sand

“Feeling sorry” … just an excuse for only doing right in part

Trying to escape from the sentence that the judge has well in hand

As somewhere through self-abuse has wiped truth from the heart

Lonely feelings stacked up daily to form a horrendous mount

Painted by emotions in the dark brushstrokes of midnight blue

No path to climb up freely just thinking one is heaven bound

So lost in one’s devotion … leaving neighbors to pay our dues
