Feathers Are Family

Your deep red feathers contribute length to your shape,

But it's more than physical features that add to my gape.

Morning "I'm awake!" calls and late night "No bedtime!" squeaks

Make you more than a pet that society speaks.

Allo, what a euphonious ring your name has!

And, of course, you enjoy listening to smooth jazz.

Allo, although your name titles you as different,

There's not a doubt in my mind you are significant.

Only a few more months we have left together.

I'll be off exploring new avenues and you'll be here with Mother.

Until then, we will continue our after school greetings

Because feathers are family and create dearest feelings.
