Fate and the Fairy Tale

Most people have bought into the thought

That we can control our own destiny.

The idea that your life is left up to you, and mine to me.

But what if this isn't the case?

What if we are left to chase

After something as impossible as fate?

This is a terriying thought,

When you are surrounded in a world full of hate.

And the only way to escape the slums

Is if fate stepped up to the plate.

Not very reliable, is it?

Now, let's look at the stats.

If we do the math

Ram was roughly one in billions,

And one out of millions

Living in possibly the poorest place on Earth.

So what is it worth?

To try to cry out for a better future

If you'll be drowned out by the sounds

Of everyone else doing the same?

Is it possible to overcome those lame circumstances?

As we can see, you do have some control.

From characters in books, movies, and TV.

The best stories involve defeating impossible odds with second chances.

And everyone romances the idea of being the underdog.

But for slumdogs, the situation's dire.

Because hell is not always fire and brimstone.

But sometimes a city covered

In the grime of crime of poverty.

Can you really overcome the sum of the slums?

Fortunately, miracles can happen to anyone.

And can bring you the pinnacle of success.

Relieve the stress of having less than those around you.

So here's a fact that Ram knew:

Fairy tales do exist,

But only for the lucky few.
