Fashion

Romans 8:12 “therefore brethren, we are not debtors

to the flesh, to live according to the flesh”

A spiritual life imprisoned ... by a fleshly body

Light caught in a black fur if that could be possible

Maybe like a curtain that is drawn from both sides

And meets in the middle to hide the foggy probable

Life itself seems hidden ... in a box of miry clay

And it won’t come out although the box is brittle

It does not make sense ... that it could capture life

And to move it from existence making the day a riddle

My inner man being nigh to God ... my outer not the wiser

My inner with Life Himself ... and my outer in the grave

My inner self enjoying life ... my outer just a despiser

My inner built on a solid Rock ... my outer buried a slave

Obedient to the body ... move on its every wish

A little discomfort ... will alter its hopeless life

It sounds kind of snotty ... like a dirty slimy dish

Being used in a banquet with atmospheric strife

Filled with love and pity ... for its own existence

Understanding only ... what good should be about

Like the skeleton of a tree ... reaching up to heaven

Tangled strands like ghosts ... mixed in with the crowd

Not a sigh of life ... in a petrified existence

Ingrained in stone a pattern what could have been

Only the Holy Ghost ... can bring it into action

Through the Power of God ... hungering to redeem

Romans 8:11 “…He Who raised Christ from the dead

will also give live to your mortal bodies”

By the provision of God’s Spirit we receive competence

To command the outer frame without its interference

No more debtors to the flesh ... and its own desires

No more restrictions ... just influence through perseverance

Legitimate requirements ... that the body has

Like clothing, food and rest ... are a simple few

The disciples sleeping well ... when Christ was in the Garden

Shows some of the tendencies ... that the Lord fore-knew

The Lord showed endurance against hunger, sleep and fear

Victory over the legitimate ... marked His Path in passion

The Love of His Father ... and His Willingness to obey

An example for Christian life ... Truth being Christ’s fashion
