Familiar

Luke 23:33

33 So when they came to the place that is called “The Skull,” they crucified Him there,

along with the criminals, one on His right and one on His left.

Familiar

I can’t see a thing but feel the familiar through the memories

as I can prove I’m not like someone else

I’ve got many more shelves and many more layers

with my self written scriptures of intense

I’ve been to Calvary but was never crucified

As I’m reminiscing about saving myself

Now my life is amplified as I am numbering

the quality of the saints as well as I can tell

I have been before to Jerusalem and back

My footprints are all over the place

No wonder the Lord is preparing a new city

For all I’ve left there is sin’s accumulating stains

Makes it look a lot like the place I live in Texas

Materialism the ruler and me a slave to it

I hide it pretty well through lots of good behavior

still next to Holiness I smell like the pits
