Falling In Love With Fire

I continuously fall in love with fire.

I can only remember once I had fallen in love with water.

Then pollution turned my water into fire.

I continuously fall in love with fire.

I’ve burned my hands, my ears, my lips.

I have burns across my arms and chest.

I don’t learn and continue my search for embers.

Hoping next time I can contain the fire.

I like to think that on the back wall when I perform

That there is a line of photos with words above that say:

“World’s Most Wanted Firestarters”

I like to think that they all stand there still

As I light fire to their figures with my spitfire words.

Hoping and praying that they catch fire

That I’m not the only one that has burns.

Hoping and praying that they hear me

That they hear the fire that’s accumulated in my heart and soul.

That they hear the fire that they have only fed throughout my years.

That they hear my cracked and dry voice from breathing in nothing but smoke.

I am not a princess that is being held by a dragon.

I am a warrior that runs into the fire and tries to save those who can’t be saved.

I refuse to continuously fall in love with fire.

I refuse to be tempted by those fire eyes.

Refuse to crave those burning hugs.

Refuse to listen to those damning words.

To follow them onto burning coals.

To fall in love with fire.

Instead, I will fall in love with water to help and heal the burns.

Instead, I will fall in love with earth to help and keep me up when resolve breaks.

Instead, I will fall in love with air to help and listen to my spitfire rants.

I will fall in love with someone else.
