The Fall of Amy

The Fall of Amy

By: Stephany L.

We never knew each other in person and I doubt I would have ever been able to do so, but when I first heard your voice in the radio, I was entranced.

Its sultry and rugged tone ricocheted off the walls in my head.

Your hair was a rockabilly robin's nest, and your exaggerated eyes shared with the world two hazel orbs guarding your most intimate pain.

You were unbelievably beautiful.

no one should ever blame you for constantly finding trouble.

You couldn't resist the dark, made up eyes of temptation, nor her glamorous fast life.

Your downfall burned through the tabloids like a comet.

I realized that the lucky charms tattooed on your skin never actually managed to keep you safe.

Several failed concerts and torn relationships later,  you still hung onto life,

Scratching it with blood -red nails and  puncturing its eardrums with the sound of redemption.

Funny fact about life, it will pull the rug from underneath your feet in your proudest moment.

When you died, it was the day that the night sky would earn another star.

Now when I look up, I'll know your twinkling eyes would reflect the bittersweet joy of finding peace.

I'll miss you.
