Faithful

Daniel 3:17     New English Translation

17 If our God whom we are serving exists, he is able to rescue us from the furnace of blazing fire, and he will rescue us, O king, from your power as well.

To exercise courage and to be counted faithful

To be so determined that nothing seems strange

To walk through the furnace, white-hot and frightful

How can it be? And so be counted as deranged.

All things are possible. Do we believe this?

Showing no pity or love for others and neither self

There is no trust in what appears or felt

For safety or security and that for yourself

The faith to explore the unseen and the unfelt

To step out in confidence on the ground still untrodden

To trust in the Lord and stand on His Word

No dependence on the natural, just wholly embodied.

In the hand of the Lord, ignoring all the feelings

Not even pursuing a slight sense of joy

To move on by faith, not needing the crutches

Incredible sensations to which the flesh clings, Ahoy!

No help from feeling is an estate we should strive for

For when the spirit grows weak and intuition replaced

By the ways of emotion that are then employed

By the own way of thinking and depending on man’s grace

It requires faith to be led by The Spirit

And this is mainly contrary to the way I feel

That the only way to serve God and inherit

The trades of God that Jesus lived, a misunderstood appeal
