Expressed Melanin

All lives matter, we are equal, they probably have a rap sheet.

Why sugar coat what is already in bold print

You know the only thing that matters is the color of our skin

No wonder why they see us all as villain’s

They see the nappy hair, curves and the expressed melanin

The fact that we can run fast

Are those the true qualities of a felon?

They only see our weaknesses

Even though we are determined and beautiful

But that doesn’t matter

They only see us as criminals

Our success was never relevant

Our struggle was always evident

Yeah our “Melanin be poppin”

But that is for the hell of it

   Fearing we might rob them

I don’t know why they're stressing it

Shooting us for living

Just for the Heck of It.

The blood is just a resemblance

Of what it used to be.

How they were always in power

And we were always on our knees

Only cause we were in prayer

Because we know this shouldn’t be

Living in this hell hole-everlasting misery

My country
