From Experience

Waking up in that deeply familiar, August morning cold,

The old will be new, but the new will be old.

Everything will be different, yet everything will be the same.

Soon, she’ll be on the other side of the glass in this little game.

Because of passion, of logic, of circumstance,

Soon, she’ll be the one leading in this little dance.

The arduous labor she forced upon herself,

The mountains of books upon her shelf,

And the harassed person’s sense of self,

Hercules’s labors taken to fulfill her dream,

She waits for the moment where her eyes will gleam.

A position where she can change it all,

A career in helping the bullied: large or small,

A chance to teach the future to answer the call,

She awaits the job that starts in the Fall.

Creative solutions arose in her head,

Every time a past teacher seemed misled.

She dreams to right the unfair wrongs.

Teaching is where she truly belongs.
