Except the Money

He calls me grumpy pants because I wrinkle my nose

And yeah it's a pretty white thing to say

But the smile that seems to ascend into his face is worth it

He's a spender, maybe it's because he's never worried before

And I don't know how to be strict because he will

Spend 250 dollars on Magic cards and an entire paycheck

On something he already has but is supposedly 'better'

He always knows when I'm upset no matter how hard

I try to hide it

And it's a little annoying but the way he wrapped his arms

Like seatbelts waiting right before the crash

Makes all my problems seem a little smaller and more doable

When we wake up before his roommates he's never quiet

I continuously say 'shhh' and he says 'it's fine, honey'

I smile before he can see it so he might quit being loud

He's never afraid to tell me I'm wrong about anything

Even when I'm pretty sure I'm right but, he's stubborn

And is often right but in his own way--- of course

The other day as he slept he smiled in his sleep

He touched my hand and let the fingers close around my pulse

I felt the warmth of sweet love between us

Even with all the stupid things he does I love them too

Except maybe the money part.
