Sleeping in on a rainy day,

Making all the bad thoughts running through my head, mindlessly wash away.

 

Finding some money that you didn’t know you had,

that somewhat makes your hungry stomach a little less mad.

 

Making brief eye contact with someone of the opposite sex

Making those simple thoughts that are running through your mind, just a tad bit more complex.

 

Skimming your way through a yellow light at the intersection,

Making your heart suffer from a mild palpitation.

 

Seeing a friend stumble over themselves,

Hilarious as they seem to catch themselves on the nearby shelves.

 

Hearing the right song, at just the right moment,

Nothing else you do can make this segment of time be sealed in hard cement.

 

Realizing that you still have time to sleep early in the morning,

That pesky alarm clock will give you enough of a warning.

 

That ‘Old Flannel Smell’ that reminds you of your father,

Then smelling the same thing five years later you mentally gather.

 

Receiving an unexpected compliment,

making that bright rosy tinge in your cheeks just that more prominent.

 

Holding hands with someone you love,

Even if it is through the warm and furry barrier we call a glove.

 

And lastly, finishing what you’ve started,

even if the closure leaves you a little broken hearted.

 

It is the simple pleasures, and feelings that start to blossom,

Leaving you to love all these things categorized under one word…
