In the eternities of
pain and tears,
dolor y llanto,
how can anyone find paz?
Mi Raza, it struggles,
Through losses of greats,
Que los anos aun,
no han curado.
Cuauhtemoc, Zapata, Hidalgo
Chavez, Villa, Joaquin,
All fighting wars,
The way each saw fit.
Revolucionarios, activists,
Empowering la Gente,
Standing up to take the responsibility of
Leadership.
So why not too, add Jaime Escalante
a esa lista?
His war against ignorance,
fought with pencils and pens.
Education, his revolution,
Was successful in the end.
Con "Ganas", he led
A small group of students
Past prejudiced eyes, watchful,
To fulfilling destinies of greatness and success.
And all those who doubted,
Bear bitter wounds of hurt pride
And he stands victorious, but then stands aside
Because the students were more important,
And though physically gone from this earth,
Through them he lives on
