Education Appreciation

It all started at the age of three

when you were taught to count, then to read

to draw and play was fun indeed,

but answering correctly was a greater deed.

Later you learned to multiply and divide-

small numbers became large and wide

with signs implying various procedures.

Then you learned about nature,

english, spanish, and literature.

new subjects were added every year.

Your play time went from free to expensive-

with a long list of comprehensive,

tedious homework that had to be completed.

High School came so soon it seems,

but is so short in the scheme of things.

So why don’t we all just try

to be in control of where we fly.

We don’t want to land in a field of hard labor

or be employed just as a favor.

I want something better to savor.

Let us strive to be our best,

for we gain from how we invest-

our hard work in school and learning.

Let us work day and night

and aim to do what is right,

to obtain a magnificent education.

In the end, no matter the toil or the sweat

you will be sure not to regret

your choice to seek and persevere.

It is not worth just a salary,

but more the opportunity

that only comes through.... Education
