Echos of A Toxic Past

You’ve painted a new picture

You’ve chipped away the black

You’ve done your best to chase away the colors of your past

And what’s behind the curtain

Doesn’t matter anymore

All they see is who you were when you’re screaming on the floor

If were being honest

You don’t know who is to blame

Too old to point your finger in the face of all your pain

You’ve fought back your demons

But they’re never truly gone

Living in the places of your heart they don’t belong

They can’t see how far you’ve come

When they pull away the blinds

Reminded of your past, they stay far behind the line

“Be grateful you are lucky

Be grateful child of mine”

Why can’t they see how much it takes just to stay alive

Your mind was broken long ago

But, you are not the pills you take

At least that’s what you tell yourself each and every day

And if you cant get up each the morning

You only have you to blame

No ones gonna pick you up in the wake of secret pain

Life isn’t what you thought

What an understatement my friend

Life is just a battle for survival in the end

hoping if you lose your way

'Someone will remind me who I am"

Stop painting a new picture

Your canvas is allready ruined

Shredded from the knife that still cuts you from your youth

Don’t live your life for them

They wont see you anyway

Just the stain on the curtain from your battle with your pain
