Echoes In Our Footprints

"Carry on," says the voice in between each step
So wrong, what has been done leading to regret.
Have you ever seen
The rings of age shown by trees?
Can you imagine this life the tree stump?
And just see every ring
As the plastic bottle or chip bag thrown nonchalantly?
Our elders teach upon the scars
They have inflicted in our atmosphere,
And following in their footsteps, we'll be as they are
Here
And we will be there
Among our children and grands hoping they could see
Where we failed numerously...countlessly.
The echoes teach, there are two types of footprints
Ones you see and others that were never there,
In this message I bring a silent powerful fear.
The echoes of the echoes were not quick enough to follow,
But the echoes in our footprints
Will Always Be
They will always stick.
