From Dust 'til Dawn

The sky lends it's blue to your eyes
Til twilight swallows the sinking sun
And your hope sinks with it
As reality hits like a smoking gun
You glance at your empty hands
The things you held so tight, to dust
Scattered to the sunset breeze
With all your dreams and wanderlust
You run to chase the falling day
But you're really just running in place
And the night proves just how static you are
When you can't keep up in the race
The night brings forth a seance
Your skeletons rise from the grass
Every forlorn attempt to hide your truth
Shattered like mirror glass
Forced to reflect on the fragments
And build a story that makes you smile
The morning light comes up behind you
Forging hope for a little while
But Father Time keeps spinning his hands
And Mother Nature can never decide
The universe caught up in domestic dispute
But a daughter gets left behind
