Ducks

Location

You’re so bored with nothing to do

Little ducks are everywhere

Nothing is interesting, nothing is new

You really don’t care.

You toggle through your ipod

And think of how much this life sucks.

You think of how there’s nothing to do

But watch silly ducks.

Watch as they play in the water

Mindless, nothing new there.

You want a life of adventure

But in this country nothing compares.

So let me tell you a story

Of a man who leads your desired life

And it’s not as pretty as a movie

His last moments were really a strife.

He went on an adventure

To fight for a country you know.

He hid from bullets and bombs,

But it was worse than the t.v. shows.

He loved this country you bash on,

Because he was aware of worse places.

He’d have given anything for the bed you crash on,

He’s slept in undesirable places.

He learned not to take small things for granted

Like fresh air and family and pie

Because he knew at any moment

He could very well die.

But before he went away

To the dirty fields of war

He was a lot like you

And thought that life was a bore.

And his last thoughts

Before he died in the muck

Were that he really wished he’d appreciated

Things as simple as ducks.
