Drowning

Sun, 11/03/2013 - 17:52 -- Lloghyn

Drink…

Just have a good time

Don’t look back to the pretending in the past or lies in the future

Never worry about the

Baby at home, crying in the arms of a vulnerable mother,

The newlywed bride with the knife of betrayal

So deep in her heart her wedding dress is soaked with blood.

Life’s all around, waiting,

All there for the taking

So take another shot

And don’t stop ‘til the room spins,

Headlights burned into pupils until gravel crunches

Outside the back door of a chaotic home,

Crying children with a whining dog,

The hardened wife so cold you could die in her winter eyes.

Piercing lights blaze in the present,

Showing no screaming kids, just work and T.V. and the

Sorrow to be quenched before tomorrow comes,

‘Cause now the bitch with the kids

Ran from the rage, the horrors she vowed to face, so grab a

Bottle and take a sip.

World whirs, garage door slams,

A slurred, blurred man with a

Desperate daughter at the door,

Begging, pleading, bleeding, weeping,

You’re going to lose her if you don’t act quick

But the drowning took your strength

So watch while she runs away casting blades of rejection.

Lies are free,

They slide over me

Like the booze down a drunk’s throat.

So forget to hide the bottles, the baby grew to womanhood

Her soul’s too hard for the denial to pierce through to sorrow

Just forget life, forget tomorrow

Take another drink, it better be big, because you have

A life’s worth of destruction to forget.
