Dreary Nights

Dreary nights I dread to walk

dim lights flicker on the street

the night becomes bright with the wind

in the trees

through the grass

the clicking of my feet upon the asphalt

the ravens fly to their homes

and I watch the road ahead waiting

for the street light to high light

I hurry my step and reach for the knob

and inside I am

safe at last.
