Dreams to Fulfill a Dream

Failing my parents

Coming to this country with 100 dollars in his pocket

With hopes and dreams that reached as high as the moon

Aspirations set, only to be achieved by flying a rocket

My father had obstacles set, with overwhelming feelings of doom

With a wife in tow and a future family goal

Working night and day to provide a better life

My fear in life is being unable to fill the perfect daughter role

He worked to let us live a life without strife

Being unable to give, to the man who gave me everything

Is a fear that plagues my dreams through the night

I watch him, watch me and in hopes of what life I can bring

I live my life in a constant stage of fright

In constant fear of not living up to his expectations

Pushes me to prove myself and be the best I can

To grow from the lessons of his foundation

In hopes of one day fulfilling his grand plan

This poem is about:
Me
My family
