The dreamer

Most dreamers are evicted
when one reaches adulthood,
sometimes even at adolescence.

But not for me;
for the dreamer
still lives on inside of my heart.

The dreamer is a stubborn tenant
that refuses to leave
even when dreams seem
like clouds that escape its reach.

The dreamer is a cloud chaser
that hides from the sun,
and when its skin is exposed
to the rays, it is burned
from what others call “disillusionment.”

But the dreamer will recover and heal,
and it will continue to conjure clouds
to sculpt its ideas from.

And even after the dreamer is successful,
it will always live on inside of my heart.
