A Dream I Dreamed

I dreamed a dream where bears stood on two legs
They roared and they screamed and they fought like beasts
Mindless and feral, they cared not for each other

I dreamed a dream of black and white
Darkest blacks and whitest whites
Never mixing, never gray

I dreamed a dream of polar bears
They stood in groups, stoic and stubborn
I dreamed a dream of black bears
Docile and strong, they banded together

I dreamed a dream of dreaming
Where dreaming was believing and believing was dreaming
Something that could be changed and there was more
To my dream than just dreaming because when I stopped to look
I noticed there were others dreaming the same dream

And to my amazement and surprise my dream wasn't a dream
And polar bears and black bears became brown bears
And in my non-dream they lived in harmony
But before I could enjoy this non-dream I found myself in another dream
One I couldn't escape because I couldn't open my eyes to see the dream I dreamed
