cold, dark nights
laying on wood that goes into our backs that are already in pain
nights that seem to never last long enough
nights where friends lay beside me at night dead
nights where my family is ripped from my finger tips
nights where I sleep like a dog
nights where I see children lay asleep dreaming
dreaming of one day that we all will one day be equal

a dream where whites and colored people come together under one nation
to live, fight together for the same country
thriving to stay alive
thriving to keep this country healthy and strong

this dream of mine is not lost
from the pain
is not lost through the strikes
it will stand
I know one day my future family will be friends with a white person
and one day they will hold hands and become one
I know if I stay in hope, faith , and under God
this nation will see that faults
and will fix our faults in time
just my time has to suffer for the future
death will come
but the future holds such greatness
greatness will soon come
greatness will soon surround this nation
with the strength to come together under one God and in one nation together
