dragons were salvation

before time began

with scales as smooth as glass

and horns sharper than cut diamond

gracefully soaring through the air

in flocks of a hundred then no more

few are still out there hiding in fear 

waiting for the right time to reappear

and when it comes they will rise

bringing terror through the skies 

scorching those who made life hell 

protecting others who head their call 

dragons are fierce yet surprisingly gentle

when you hear their call just beware 

the time of reckoning wont be far
