Don't Swear on the Moon

Location

I can still recall the same sentence,

Spilling out of your mouth when times were hard.

You said,

"I love you to the moon and back,

I swear on the moon, and everything in between."

It was calming.

It was welcoming.

I found peace in that simple sentence.

depended on that simple sentence.

Now it's months later

And you aren't here

And you don't love me,

From the moon and back.

I should've known you wouldn't stay

Because stars are constantly moving

And the moon has its phases

They constantly change, they never stay

And you did too
